A gray patio decor can look so sophisticated. The neutral color leaves opens up possibilities for adding striking splashes of color to keep the patio decor fresh and vibrant. And gray just never goes out of style.
Destiny Alfonso of Just Destiny Mag demonstrates this perfectly with her fabulous dual-purpose patio makeover.
Sophisticated Gray Patio Decor
We recently moved into a new home with a backyard space that was ready for some attention. My vision for the space was to make it as comfortable as sitting in our family room but also have enough seating options for everyone. Starting with our family of five and then adding chairs and other options for any guests we may have over. With the help from my friends at The Home Depot I was able to make our covered patio feel like an extension of our home!
Cozy Outdoor Seating Area
The Hampton Bay Oak Cliff 4 Piece arrangement, set the stage for a cozy area right off the family room. There are so many colors to choose from in this “customize your collection” patio set. I chose the gray cushions. The color allowed me to add in pops of bright blues, yellows, greens and pinks for a relaxed, but sophisticated look.
This space is used for unwinding after a long day and for having an impromptu chat with neighbors. Holding up three basic mirrors is an unfinished console table that I ordered from The Home Depot online. I love that it came unfinished because I was able to use an outdoor paint so that it could hold up to the elements!
To hold drinks and other items I arranged a few different garden stools around the loveseat and lounge chairs. This white garden stool was so cute! It has a metal finish which makes it easy to clean, and it fits in wonderfully with the gray patio decor. The other garden stools you might recognize from from my previous courtyard makeover the soft outdoor poufs also help with extra seating.
I of course had to throw some pillows into the mix. Can’t have enough pillows! Even outdoors. These black lattice outdoor pillows were a great compliment to my black and white stripes and gray slipcovers– and the overall gray palette. Even though this area is covered, we still get enough sun to make use of an umbrella. Our outdoor umbrella in Sky complements the pops of blue I put on my console and a few planters.
The Outdoor Dining Space
On the other side of the patio is a spacious coordinating Oak Cliff 7-Piece Dining set, again with the gray cushions. I thought it would be great to lounge on one side of the patio, and dine on the other, while leaving the middle open for traffic in and out of the house.
Heat and Light for the Patio
Tucked in the corner of both sides of the patio is a patio heater that’s perfect for those “in between”nights when winter wants to stay a while longer.
Black hanging lanterns are the focal point for this wall, while the galvanized beverage tub, tray and utensil holder gives the space a nice contrast.
To add some greenery to the monochromatic space I used artificial grass a table runner. You can find this at The Home Depot and have it cut to any size you wish.
Patio Lighting for Evenings Outdoors
Not only do we use and love our covered patio during the day but also at night! We all know how important lighting is when the sun goes down. With a few different items from The Home Depot, I was able to light up our entire dining area.
To start, I used micro LED outdoor lights. This is one of my favorite ways to bring the mood up a notch. The best thing about these lights is that they’re battery operated and work on a self timer! That means you don’t need to find a plug or an outlet to use them. They can travel all over your outdoor space for any occasion.
I coupled that with the black lanterns, and made a real showstopper. They look so dramatic in the gray patio decor. Inside these lanterns, I used LED candles with self timers. I love not worrying about blowing out the the candles after a long night. But on the table I used real candles along with the micro lights to give a good mix of different lighting. I also love how the outdoor ceiling fan gives of a pretty pattern on the wall from the seeded light design!
Our patio makeover turned out beautifully. With just a few anchor pieces from The Home Depot’s Hampton Bay brand I was able create a lovely gray patio decor for a practical, functional and stylish outdoor space! I hope you are inspire this spring to go outside, dust off the patio and add some gorgeous pieces to make your space feel just like home!
