Tools
The Polka Dot Nursery Theme
Oranges and blue-greens are non-traditional colors for a baby’s room. Use them to create this look, adding a bit of fun and color to your nursery walls.
Step 1
Pour your selected dot color into a paint tray. Gently dip the flat side of your round artist sponge into the paint.
Step 2
Press the painted side of the sponge against the wall.
Step 3
Repeat Steps 2 and 3 (alternating colors if applicable) across the wall in the pattern of your choice.
The Stripes Nursery Theme
Stripes add a lot of visual interest to a nursery. We created them in a warm green, gray and turquoise for a sophisticated, but easy to accomplish, look.
Step 1
Measuring up from the bottom of the wall, create a height line for your stripes.
Stripes can be symmetrical or asymmetrical depending on your preference.
Step 2
With a level draw your stripe height line across the wall.
Repeat for all height lines.
Apply painter’s tape to the wall along and in-between your stripe height lines.
When complete you should be able to see the stripe pattern emerge.
Step 3
Paint your stripes.
With your paint brush or roller apply your stripe colors to the wall.
Remove the tape from wall once the paint has dried.
Step 4
Repeat Steps 1-3 for overlapping or additional stripes.
