Christmas Decorations for Gorgeous Faux Fireplace Mantel

Christmas Decorations for Gorgeous Faux Fireplace Mantel

Claire Brody of Claire Brody Designs didn’t have a fireplace, so she got one. Her faux fireplace then did what any fireplace shoud do: it became the centerpiece of her living room Christmas decorating.

We invited her to take part in our Holiday Style Challenge. We sent Claire a mystery box of Home Depot Christmas decorations and a Home Depot gift card to get her started on her Christmas decorating.

Claire added lots of lovely, natural greenery to her fireplace mantel and throughout her living room, along with other understated Christmas decorations for a gorgeous holiday look.

When The Home Depot asked me to participate in their Holiday Style Challenge, I was pretty ecstatic about bringing out Christmas décor a little earlier than usual. I think the fireplace mantel is the perfect hub for Christmas décor in the home, but unfortunately, we didn’t have a fireplace or mantel in our rental. I used this opportunity as an excuse to create a budget, and rental, friendly faux fireplace mantel just in time for the holidays.

We started with a mantel that I found on Craigslist and went to work from there. We tiled the opening of the faux fireplace to give it visual interest and also added this retro inspired floor-standing electric fireplace. We live in a small bungalow, so the retro fireplace is right at home.

Faux Fireplace Before and After

Simple, Natural Garland

The garland on the mantel is a combination of faux greenery and pine limbs that I clipped from a Christmas tree. I created a base for the garland using faux greenery and then used floral wire to secure the pine pieces on top.

For the wreath, I used the same process by starting with a basic wreath mold and then securing pine pieces with floral wire.

I carried out the natural green look with eucalyptus up top also.

Rich, Dark Colors

I wanted the Christmas scene to flow throughout our home, so since I am all about rich and moody colors, I incorporated colors that were already present in our home into the Christmas mantel. Green is used naturally through the garland, and I added plum accents for a rich contrast.

Simple Christmas Accents

While I didn’t want anything to scream “Christmas” too much, I love the simple touch these gold glittered Christmas trees added. It was the perfect amount of “Christmas” for me.
