New Holiday Gift Wrapping Styles to Try

Holiday Gift Wrapping Styles to Try

Mallory Fitzsimmons of Style Your Senses has an endless desire to make all things pretty, so we invited her to take part in our Holiday Style Challenge. We sent Mallory a mystery box of Home Depot Christmas decorations along with a Home Depot gift card to get her started on her Christmas decorating.

Mallory used the items in her mystery box along with supplies from The Home Depot to create personalized wrapping ideas for this holiday season. Keep reading for inspiration and a DIY gift wrap tutorial!

When the folks at The Home Depot invited me to a Holiday Gift Wrapping Style Challenge, using only materials found at The Home Depot, I must admit I was a bit nervous. I’m used to girly wrapping paper, frilly and meticulous bows, and coordinating name tags and I just couldn’t envision how I would make building materials look holiday ready. Never one to turn down a challenge, I carved out some time, took a snack and planned to cruise the aisles of Home Depot for an extended period of time to come up with something suitable for under our tree!

Once I got there, my creativity instantly turned on and I was throwing all kinds of things in to my cart and got really excited to think out of the box for this one. Since I got a little carried away, I am going to show you a traditional idea and one that’s sophisticated enough to match your holiday decor. Then I’ll share a few ideas that are specific to the recipient and make giving the gift so personal and fun!

I used very easy items to make a personalized gift wrapping idea that’s a little rustic and a little nautical, but still fun.

Step 1

First, start by spray painting the shims and wrapping the gift in the builders craft paper.

Step 2

Then decide on your monogram and use the stencil to spray paint it onto the gift/craft paper.

Step 3

Next, use hot glue and your shims to assemble the starburst.

Step 4

Lastly, wrap the rope around as you would a ribbon and garnish with evergreen sprigs.

Next, I had a little fun and created some more specific holiday gift wrapping ideas for you to get creative with. First one is for the handy man in your life! Make sure he doesn’t peek at his gifts by securing them with caution tape instead of ribbon.

Gift Wrapping for the Painter

Lastly, for the painter in your life, I tied a simple Home Depot work apron (under $1.00!) around the box and stuffed it full of brushes, swatches and little necessities. I added a simple stencil monogram and it turned into a bright and colorful box that’s personalized and makes giving the gift that much more special!
