These spooky Halloween decorations will make your front porch the talk of the neighborhood. As you’ll see, this creepy graveyard look is easy to accomplish, too.
This spooky front door was styled by Elisha Albretsen of Pneumatic Addict for our Halloween Style Challenge. We sent her a mystery box of Home Depot Halloween decorations and let her do the rest.
She supplemented the scary Halloween decorations we sent with a couple of DIY touches of her own to complete the scene. Take a look and pick up some Halloween decorating ideas for your front porch.
Spooky Halloween Decorations
I have 7-year-old twin boys who are a little obsessed with Halloween. They have been begging me to make our house “scary” for the past three years. When I received my Halloween Style Challenge box, full of skulls and tombstones, I knew I could finally give my boys their wish. Although it might not be as “scary” as two little boys may want, my front porch will definitely be creepy this year!
Door Hanger with Skulls
I had a few bags of life sized skulls which I turned into a creepy door hanger. It was super easy to make and didn’t take very long.
I found the coolest picture hanging knob that I could mount on my door with damage-free adhesive strips. I simply hooked my door hanger onto a metal ring and placed it on the knob. It was an easy way to deck out a front door in just a few minutes.
Halloween Vignette
My little animated vulture has got to be one of my favorite new toys. He responds to sound and will move and squawk whenever someone walks by. He’s made me jump more than once already!
I placed a resin tombstone on the ground with a fake pumpkin and a bag of bones; Boom! Halloween vignette.
Chilling on the Front Porch
Our new friend, Charlie the poseable skeleton, decided to chill on the porch swing.
I don’t blame him. I’d much rather sit down than spend the holidays hanging by a string in my head, too.
Gargoyle with DIY “Stone” Column
Every room needs a focal point, even if that room happens to be a porch. My front door is off-center, creating a blank area by the entrance. While walking through the holiday section of my Home Depot store I spotted this massive gargoyle statue. I decided I could build a faux stone column and create a large, striking accent to fill the space.
I’m pretty happy with the way my faux stone finish turned out. Both the gargoyle and his column look like old rock that has been eroding for decades. They make me want to build faux stone props to put all around my yard.
Halloween Lighting
On Halloween night, we’ll cut the lights and turn on these super cool flickering string lights. They look like old Edison bulbs and are battery powered, so I don’t have to deal with tacky extension cords.
We might officially be the weirdos on the street with Halloween decorations up so early, but I don’t care. My boys lit up like a candle when they walked outside and saw our “scary Halloween house”. I’m just glad I was able to create a creepy, graveyard theme without splashing fake blood all over the place.
